Elevator is a necessary transport equipment used in high-rise buildings where people live in. The number of the lift increases significantly due to the continuous increasing high-rise buildings. As a kind of high energy-consuming equipment, the surprising amount of energy consumption increased year by year not only causes concern in the construction industry and the field of energy conservation, but also leads to the result that policy regulators around the world seek to develop a reasonable laws and regulations actively, in order to assess and promote the reduction of its energy consumption. This paper introduces a new intelligent embedded system design used for detecting the energy efficiency of the lift,which is based on the embedded system platform, combining with the modern detection technology, data processing algorithms, and new storage devices.This detection system uses the new intelligent instrument design. Based on the 32-bit ARM microprocessor core (S3C2440) and embedded operating system (Windows embedded CE6.0), associated with a variety of external sensors, storage and communications devices, with the use of the fast Fourier transform (FFT) and upper computer software, this system can realize the detection of the lift energy consumption parameters. With the real-time detection of the lift running status using acceleration detection module, this system can analyze comprehensively the energy consumption changing with the lift running status. Furthermore, with the utilizing of the touch screen technology to select different evaluating standards of the energy efficiency of the lift, it can calculate energy consumption reflecting the value of the elevator.This paper includes the following parts: voltage and current detection method, ARM in the detection system, the hardware circuit design argument, the embedded operating system migration, the development of drivers and applications based on embedded operating system, the application of the USB communication mode, the application of the high-capacity removable storage device (SD card) in this detection system, the program of upper computer software. Firstly, we briefly introduce the principle of the lift energy consumption and sum up the effect factors together with the existing evaluation systems and parameters of the energy consumption. Also, a brief introduction of the theories, algorithms, etc. used in the design is included. Secondly, we introduce detailedly the hardware design with respect to this system and software design based on the embedded operating system. In addition, we use actual circuit to carry out a simulation experiment. Finally, we give a summary of the research contents, a method for system improvement, and a discussion about future development of the detection system of the lift energy consumption.
