With the rapid development of computer, network, and storage information system, the appropriate technology in the application of the Medical Diagnostic Imaging in the country has made significant progress. Medical Diagnostic Imaging has booming development, which is not only widely used in clinical diagnosis, but also provides a lot of aid in the aspects of fast and intuitive diagnosis of the disease. PACS has a pivotal role in medical imaging, medical image storage and transmission system. Beside the PACS system hospital department has its own diagnostic imaging systems, such as Radiation Branch (RIS) Ultrasound Division (UIS), Pathology (PIS), Looking Glass Room (NIS) and so on. For confused construction of PACS system and multiple PACS system in many hospitals, the clinicians need to use multiple-software in film-reading process. In addition, without the uniform standard in the imaging departments problem (integrate of clinical film-reading) have been caused. In this paper, we investigated the distinctions and correlations among different diagnostic imaging methods, and basing on the Hospital Information System (HIS) and the Medical Imaging DICOM3.0standard, we established an information-exchange system between imaging departments and a unified platform for medical imaging using database associated technology and standard method for imaging conversion. This platform makes better use of the PACS system by eliminating barriers between imaging departments that used to be information islands, thus facilitating transfer of information. Meanwhile, it reduces the cost of installing and maintaining multiple software on every server, workstation, and other equipment. This platform also ensures concise and efficient clinical diagnosis, by eliminating barriers between imaging departments, diagnostic images can be freely extracted from all departments of the system for reference and diagnosis, greatly facilitating fast and accurate judgment of a patient’s condition. It also contributes to comparison diagnosis basing on different imaging methods, which would reduce medical malpractice due to errors. In addition, it also provides the prerequisite for remote medical image retrieval and remote diagnosis.
