After the reform and opening-up, Chinese scientists start to learn advanced building technologies from foreign country. Because of many double-skin facade buildings have a good energy performance in foreign country, the Chinese scientists began to introduce this technology. Double skin facades are made of the outer layer of the wall, the inner layer of the wall and the middle of the air layer. As the air is a good thermal insulation material, theoretically, double skin facade thermal performance should be better than ordinary insulation-wall. However, Chinese people found some problems in this course.(1) Energy savings of double glass curtain wall. Double glass curtain construction in many areas occur overheating phenomenon in summer, so that people suspect that this kind of external wall’s energy-saving effect.(2) The architects blindly follow the trend of using double skin facades, but did not consider whether it appropriate to the area, so that the waste of building materials and energy.Therefore, this paper analyzes and studies the following:(1) Solve the problem of overheating phenomenon in summer of double glass curtain wall construction and optimize analysis the double glass curtain wall. This paper finds out the advantages and disadvantages of different kinds of the double glass curtain wall by steady state analysis, as well as the optimal size of the different structural types of double glass curtain wall, and solves their overheating problems in the summer, so as to provide architect designed double glass curtain wall reference.(2) Research on the applicability of the double skin facades in different climatic regions. This paper find out the loss of heat of different structural types of double skin facades construction in summer and winter by non-steady-state simulation analysis theory.(3) This paper analysis energy saving effect of the double skin facades by Life Cycle Theory. Theoretical analysis of the life cycle is taken into account early in the design process of a method of analysis for all products. The aticle find that double glass curtain wall is suitable for hard cold regions and cold regions, trombe wall is suitable for hot summer and cold winter regions, venetian facades is suitable for hot summer and warm winter regions.
