Frequent traffic accidents caused the number of death and loss is remarkable. According to statistics, each year nearly 10 million people in the world died or were injured in car accidents, the direct economic loss of more than $ 1 billion. How to avoid the vehicle collision and reduce the probability of traffic accidents are very important. For the analysis of road traffic accidents show that more than 80% of accidents are due to drivers do not react in time, more than 65% of the vehicles are rear-end collision and the rest belong to the side collision. Mercedes-Benz company for all kinds of traffic accident studies show that if the driver is able to realize early that there is a risk of accident and take appropriate measures, the most traffic accidents can be avoided. At present the establishment of the automotive anti-collision system for reducing the accident probability become the main research object. Most existing automotive anti-collision system at home and abroad based on radar ranging module. Its price is high and not conducive to large scale. Therefore, the establishment of inexpensive, functional collision avoidance system has practical significance and economic value。This paper based on the ARM Embedded Linux operating system development platform, combined with AVR microcontroller, using ultrasonic ranging module, established collision avoidance system based on ultrasonic distance measurement. The system has advantage of high precision, long range, low price and can be applied in a variety of models. The system uses OK6410 ARM11 series as a system control board to process data information and establish a collision model, including determine the alarm information. AVR microcontroller measures distance that is passed to the OK6410 development board via RS232. 3G module will transfer vehicle distance and speed information to the monitoring center. The using of 3G module creases the monitoring capability, at the same time, provide security guarantee for the driver at the time of driver fatigue. Firstly, this paper introduces the overall structure of the system, including the definition of embedded system, the choice of embedded operating system and the use of 3G networks. Secondly, introducing the ultrasonic ranging module systems and collision avoidance algorithms. This paper points out the shortcomings of traditional anti-collision algorithm and establishes a new collision model. Finally, describing the hardware and software of system implementation methods and the performance of testing system. Paper verified the feasibility and stability of the system by analyzing the experimental data.
