Today’s society is facing a crisis of traditional fossil energy, renewable an d clean energy has become an important support for sustainable development The wind energy is one of clean and renewable energy sources with much roo m for developping in power generation projects. In addition, the numerical sim ulation of complex terrain wind field has been a hot topic wind power generat ion projects which mainly because the terrain has a great impact on the wind resource distribution. The altitude of Askervein mountain is 116 m, it located on the west coast of South Uist in Scotland (north latitude 57°11’west longitude 7°22’).It belongs to temperate maritime climate and prevails on southwest wind. Betwee n September to October in 1983, wind resource research institutions of Internal ional Energy Association carried out wind measuring trials in the scene. This p aper utilizes Askervein mountain as the research object, using FINE/TURBO software package in NUMECA company to execute numerical simulation calcul ation for its wind field, researches on the simulation results, and compares wit h the measured data, for instance, wind speed at 10m from the ground along t he A-A line, turbulence intensity back of the mountain, and the wind speed di stribution along the vertical height at peak point (H point)and so forth, which verifies the feasibility and accuracy of numerical methods. At the same time, it simulates and analyzes the impact of different wind speed, wind direction, th e surface roughness on the wind speed distribution and turbulence intensity of Askervein mountain. At last, according to a year of original wind data for a wind farm of Lon gfeng area in Yunnan Province, this paper use Windgrapher software to proces s into wind frequency rose diagram and wind speed frequency distribution grap h containing 12 wind direction sectors, to provide abases for setting boundary conditions. Import the survey and mapping data into block files using MATLA B and generate computational domain using IGG software. Wind farm area wer e simulated using FINE/TURBO package in this paper. This paper analyzes t he wind farm, the wind speed distribution, flow lines and turbulence intensity distribution according to the different location section of wind farm.It also dis cusse whether the areas are suitable for the installation of wind turbines or not, which has a certain engineering value for microcosmic location of wind farm.
