Belt conveyor is a king of continuous transportation equipment in the modern production,which has the advantages of large conveying capacity,long conveying distance,low power consumption,convenient loading and unloading which has been widely used in coals,mining,ports, power, metallurgy, chemical and other fields.The conveyor belt is the key of traction and carrier of the belt conveyor.Because of long time being used in the bad environment,improperly installation and adjustment of the belt conveyor,uneven loading caused by materials falling on the inappropriate position,conveyor belt will product failures in deviation,surface damage and longitudinal tear.If conveyor belt failure is not timely detection and treatment,major belt fault and longitudinal tear accidents will happen,which cause halting production,wastage of the production and transportation of materials,equipment damage and casualties,and will seriously affect the safety in production. In order to guarantee the safety in transport of belt conveyor,it is need to develop a conveyor belt longitudinal tear fault detection system based on machine vision to realize the fault detection of surface failure of conveyor belt,and to avoid major safety accidents.In this paper,the signal collector of fault detection system for longitudinal rip of conveyor belt based on machine vision is been studied.The pager present the design for signal collector of fault detection system for longitudinal rip of conveyor belt based on machine vision.The signal collector includes linear CMOS sensor module,signal acquisition control module and signal processing and transmission module.And design the hardware circuit and the corresponding software of the signal collector.The CMOS sensor module is designed using the linear CMOS sensor ELIS-1024;the signal acquisition control module is designed using Xilinx’s FPGA XC3S500E and its program is written by VHDL language.The signal processing and transmission module is designed using TI’s DSP TMS320C6748 chip and its program is written by C language;The communication protocol of signal collector is setting based on TCP/IP protocol and the communication software of signal collector is written using C language;By the LabView environment,using G graphical programming language to write the PC software,realize the detection,processing and display of the conveyor belt.A experiment platform for signal collector of fault detection system for longitudinal rip of conveyor belt based on machine vision is build and a experiment is conducted.The result shows that the signal collector can complete the signal acquisition,storage, processing and transmission to the computer by Ethernet.The signal collector has the advantage of high quality signals, high reliability, convenient networking and so on.The signal collector has great value of application in the fault detection system for longitudinal rip of conveyor belt based on machine vision,and can realize the function of acquisition,processing and transmission for conveyor belt surface image,to avoid the production of safety accident,equipment damage,halting production and casualties caused by the major fault and longitudinal tear of conveyor belt, to reduce transport material loss and economic loss,to improve the production efficiency which have significant economic and social benefits and can be widely used in coal,mine,port,electric power,metallurgy,chemical industry and other fields using conveyor belt.
