The popularization and application of electric vehicles for the promotion of sustainable development of society, economy and environment are of great importance. Today, governments are taking road of sustainable development, and vigorously promote the popularization and application of electric vehicles. Besides, they provide great support of human, material and financial resources for the development of the entire electric vehicle industry.From the current point of view, the main factors which impact the rapid popularization and application of electric vehicles include the controlling complexity, mileage short and long charging time among which the charging time is one of the key factors in the development of electric vehicles, so the electric vehicle battery power charging technology has become the key areas of research and development.This paper presents an intelligent charging system for Lead-acid battery, builds a battery model by using Panasonic LC-RA1212 VRLAB units and complete the entire battery intelligent fast charging system design. In this design, the smart charging program uses the combination of constant current charging and pulse charging method and fuzzy adaptive tuning PID(Fuzzy-PID)control method to achieve goals. Wherein, Fuzzy-PID method is very suitable for the physical battery charge and discharge characteristics. The real-time effects are better than conventional PID control strategy so that the battery charging process is controlled within the preferred range.This paper includes the following sections:Firstly, the paper introduces the current battery charging method and the advantages and disadvantages of the corresponding charging method. Integrating the advantages and disadvantages of various methods of charging, the paper proposes smart fast charging method for lead-acid batteries – combination of constant current charging and pulse charging.Then, based on the design of intelligent Fuzzy-PID control method fast charge control system, we build a simulation model of the voltage control loop and current loop control system.Analysis of results of Matlab / Simulink simulation show that Fuzzy-PID control is better than conventional PID control method.Finally, the intelligent fast charging system is verified by experiments, as is explained in TMS320DSPLF2407 controller hardware design and we designed the corresponding software control systems. Test data show that the system can achieve power battery charging requirements,and the speed achieves a larger increase.
