Manufacturing Cell is actually a flexible and fast response small system, it divides the complicated and long Manufacturing System into several Manufacturing Cells, each one could be seen as an independent production line. These characteristics of Manufacturing Cell such as fast response to orders and market demand and flexibility make it more and more popular in each enterprise. We mainly research the facility layout and production scheduling in Manufacturing Cell, and complete the design of machined Manufacturing Cell of Cylinder Head.First, we elaborated on the research status at home and abroad about Manufacturing Cell facility layout and computer simulation technology and process synchronization according to key research directions, proposed that small cell manufacturing model is more suitable for this task, replaced the traditional operator with advanced CNC machining centers, completed the preliminary design of overall structure of the Manufacturing Cell; Established equipment selection evaluation system and selected the key equipment, made a detailed description of the selection process about CNC selection; Then, completed the development of machine process of cylinder head including concrete actions of CNC machine, distribution all processes into five CNC machines based on branch and bound method; And then, selected the simple and effective linear single-line layout based on the research of existing equipment layout model and algorithm, established the mathematical model, designed each operator according to genetic algorithm, completed programming in MATLAB platform and calculated the optimal facility layout scheme; Last, realized the simulation of production scheduling based on certain facility layout scheme with Flexsim, established optimization function, found out the best tact and analyzed loads of each work station with simulation parameters, fine-tuned some processes and made the actual productivity of Manufacturing Cell improve 2.46% than expected, evaluated enterprise benefits in some extent.Based on actual production tasks, we completed the design of machined Manufacturing Cell of Cylinder Head from facility layout and production scheduling simulation, researched some related technology, finally made the actual productivity of Manufacturing Cell higher than expected, achievements in this paper have a certain reference meaning to design of production line of other enterprises.
