Urban transport vehicles require frequent braking and starting due to its operating conditions, which will cause excessive energy consumption on the brake. The application of braking energy recovery technology can not only improve the utilization rate of the energy of the vehicle and improve vehicle fuel economy, but also have great effect on the improvement of the vehicle emission performance. Therefore, in urban operation condition, recovering maximum energy can improve the economic efficiency of vehicles and reduce vehicle emission levels.In today’s growing environmental protection consciousness, this has great practical significance. Basing on the small travel vehicle as the research object, this paper carry out the research of brake energy recovery technology with spiral spring as energy storage element. The research contents are as follows:(1) According to the characteristics of small travel vehicle itself and the city’s frequent braking condition, this paper use spiral spring as the energy storage component to recover brake energy on the basis of the existing brake energy recovery system on the status of research. This paper design basic structure of braking energy recovery in small travel vehicle and enact operating principle of spiral spring brake energy recovery, to achieve energy recovery and release function.(2) By the analysis of braking force and brake force distribution, this paper analyze front and rear brake force distribution relationships of small travel vehicle in the different conditions. Then this paper research suitable control strategy of brake force distribution to achieve high efficiency energy recovery in the premise of braking security and stability.(3) According to the development of the braking force distribution control strategy, simulation model of brake energy recovery system in small travel vehicle is built to get phase of vehicle speed in different braking conditions and analyze the impact of braking strength and initial speed to recovery efficiency of brake energy recovery system.(4) This paper design three-dimensional structure of spiral spring brake energy recovery in detail and agency action controller, then complete bench test and data acquisition. At last, compare and analyze the results of bench test and simulation.
