As the country’s encouragement and support to the new wall materials industry, the hydraulic press is developing toward large-scale, high precision and automation. In order to meet the requirement of large-scale press for lightweight structure, this paper adopts modern design method to develop 1300T automatic double-direction hydraulic press block machine.After the demand of hydraulic press was analyzed and the overall scheme was determined, the structure of upper beam, lower beam and main cylinder were firstly designed by modern design method. Then the strength and stiffness of main parts were checked by ANSYS software, the results showed that the intensity and deformation were in line with the design requirements. In order to reduced the mass of lower beam, the DesignXplorer was adopted to optimize the beam. The result showed that the mass was reduced by 10.21% and the stress was distributed more reasonablely. To solve the fatigue failure of main cylinder, FE/safe software was selected to conduct fatigue analysis, and a new transitional curve was proposed to make the life meet the design requirement. In order to explore the effect of working frequency and outside environment on the press, modal analysis was introduced and the results showed that stiffness in the middle of the press was weak. On the basis of analyzing how to improve the stiffness, a reinforcement structure was put up to make the press work more steadily.Finally, according to the analysis and design, prototype was manufactured. The results of debugging and trial operation showed that the hydraulic press operated smoothly and the quality of green brick was accepted. As a result, the method and conclusion of this paper have some reference values for practical engineering design.
