On the basis of thoroughly seeing about protection testing devices inthe world, and incorporate with the characteristics of operation andmaintenance of on-site protection, this paPer presellts a software designscheme and a hardware design scheme of a portable protection testingbased on the microprocessor. It can achieve a close loop testing whichincludes circuit breakef, auo-recloser and protection in order to detect thebehavior of protection. At the same time it can also realize power systemsimulation when fault current and fault voltage contain a great deal ofharmonic components, the variety of frequency and the oscillation ofpower system. In order to validate this protection test device, an infinitelygreat radiate power system model is adopted. Modular programmingmakes program clearer and simPler. Manual work and auo detecting canfulfill consumer's demand. Wth the suPport to full Chinese characterdisPlay the man-machine iflterface is user-friendly All protectiondetection information can display from the liquid crystal display moduleas well as prillted by mini-size printer. To make the detection systemhigher in performance and low cost, more stable, better inelectromagnetic property and well in many other peculiarities, manymeasures have been taken to optimize overall performance of portableprotection testing system. Due to the fast innovation in microelectronicstechnology, this scheme has drastic progression in speed and precision.
