Facing the new situation of world economic development, shipping, which shoulders most of the international trade transportation, has become increasingly prominent with the entering of twenty-first century. People attach more and more importance to shipping development. Sustainable development has become a hot topic in the modern world. Research of sustainable development on shipping is of great significance to the promotion of national economy development.This thesis, based on the theory of sustainable development and the analyses of shipping characteristics, advances the connotation and assessment criteria of shipping sustainable development, analyses and forecasts the tendency and scope of sustainable development, and puts forward thoughts and solution to the existing problems, which enables the shipping development in our country to meet the needs of national economy development and the requirements of sustainable development.It employs the combination approaches of model analysis and calculation in the light of systematic theory and forecasting theory as well as planning theory, so that the synthetical application of theoretical analysis and data analysis are realized.
