The technology of reverse engineering is widely used in motorcycle industry, and it is a short cut for domestic industries to study advanced design ideas and means abroad. During the period, in which most engineers deal with reverse engineering, they felt the critical obstacle is how to rebuild surface in computer. The reasons are:1) Introduced the bad points during the measurement , so the rebuilt surface is different from the prototype.2) It is difficult to put together two smooth surfaces, which are divided from a complex primary surface. After studying a lot of documents of Computer-graphics and computation of geometrical, based on NURBS, which is a pop expression to describe curve and surface, the author put forward a method——to identify bad point by most excursion, to illustrate how to choose smooth base plane, which is not referred in most documents, and to introduce optimize method of Operational Research to combine surfaces, especially for surfaces combination with vertex, and improvement of combination effect. The author also studied UGII, interface statements and internal functions, after a development by using Visual C++,UG/open API, inherit functions of UGII, the functions of curve smooth, surface smooth and surfaces combination.After the tests in motorcycle reverse engineering, 1) The bad points can be deleted by using curve smoothing function, so the curve become more smooth.2) After combining surfaces, two surface curvature is continuous.3) When combining surfaces with vertex, surfaces C1 continuous at vertex, C2 continuous other.So, it approve the methods are effective.
