Along with the technical development in computer, the body design tends more and more the integral whole design in CAD/ CAE/ CAM. The finite element technique is the key technique of the computer assistance engineering analysis (CAE). It has become an important part of a body design that applying the finite element technique to guide the structural design of a new car type, while the body is reduced in weight at the same time, the request in stiffness and strength of body are satisfied. At first, the finite element technique is only applied to proceed to the simple static analysis to the body structural. The analysis results are conducted to the first step of body structural design. Along with the technical development in computer, ANSYS, NASTRAN, PARTRAN and so on all kinds of large software in finite element are set, the finite element has been applied in the optimization design and dynamic analysis of body structural.The research that applying finite element technique to design body structural in nation is mainly focused in that seeing the weight as target to get the most light, passing the calculation to proceed the optimization analysis of strength and stiffness in the twist and bent two kinds of works stations, considering the dynamic characteristic as target to proceed mold static analyze, acquiring the proper frequency which is taken as the optimization target or stipulations.This thesis is included in five chapters. It is primary discussed that how to use big software on finite element to complete static analysis and mode analysis of bus body's structure. According to the analysis result to optimization design bus body's structure.In the first chapter, the development and application of finite element method are introduced. In the second chapter, how to analyze bus body's structure by the application of finite element method are expatiated. In the third chapter, the finite element model of bus body are established and simplified. Since it is very difficult to established the model via ANSYS software, UG software is used to set up the model. In the fourth chapter, the bus body'sstructure are analyzed by ANSYS software. Three work situations of bus body are discussed, which are bend work situation, torsion work situation and crankle work situation. The stiffness and strength of bus body's structure are calculated to guide the design of bus body's structure. In the fifth chapter, the optimization design of bus body's structure are discussed. According to the result which are the stiffness and strength of bus body's structure calculated in the fourth chapter, the bus body's weight are lessened under the required stiffness and strength by changing some beam's section dimension.
