In order to overcome the drawback of classical fixed boundary models, a finite element model of structure-foundation system has been suggested in this paper for the earthquake response analysis of frame structures, such as beams and columns, are described with plane-stress 4-node quadrilateral parametric element, and foundations with plane-strain 4-node quadrilateral parametric element. The lateral boundary nodes of the foundation finite element mesh are tied together and the side of and the bottom of the model is imposed with transmitting boundary so that the dynamic interaction between structures and foundations can be fully taken into consideration. The static force produces the displacement of the frame structure. At the balanceable place the incoming wave is inputted vertically as shear wave in the bottom of the mode. Comparing the history-time response of the horizontal displacement of the node by the combination between the static force and the dynamic force to the history-time response of the horizontal displacement of the same node by the dynamic force directly. The sample makes it clear that the displacement produced by the static force produce should be taken into the dynamic response. The displacement curve of the combination between the static force and the dynamic force is according to the actual condition.
