Study On Humanized Design Of City Plaza

The city plaza is an important part of urban public place and a city's symbol, it reflects historic culture and artistic style in a city. The place of relaxation and communication for people was provided by the plaza. At the same time, the city plaza plays an important role in increasing communication and enriching citizen life.The city plaza serves for people, and people play leading roles in plaza. Only the plaza gives expression to humanized care, accords with citizen's behavior feature and reflects environmental consciousness, then it coincides with times. The purpose of paper is how to apply the theory of humanized design in the plaza and reflects humanized care in the place of urban plaza.The research works of humanized design about city plaza concern psychology, behaviorism, social culture. Based on the knowledge of environmental behavior, the paper puts forward applied principles of environmental consciousness and place cognition in urban plaza design. After the behavior regularity and psychological feature were analyzed, the peoples' activity types were induced into individual activity, group activity and community activity. The peoples' associated types were lineal association and net association.The urban environment is a kind of social environment. According to the associated characteristics, the concepts of active place and negative place were posed. At the base of analysis of the culture, the affection of eastern traditional culture was put forward, and summed up circled sky and square ground, fengshvi theory, diverse religions.After the theory research and the place characteristic of modern urban plaza were analyzed, the principles of humanized design in modern plaza were deduced such as entity principle, ecology principle, walking principle, diverse principle, place principle.In case studies, 6 urban plazas in xi'an city were analyzed by questionnaire and seeing. At thesame time, the improvement suggestions were posed. At last, sets a sample for urban plaza design, the theory of humanized design was applied in urban plaza.
