The Design And Operation Of The Hydraulic Keyless Connection

The hydraulic keyless connection of shaft system described in this paper is writer bold design and summery on the basis of many years experience in new shipbuilding practice with a plenty of analysis and improvement. As an application of hydraulic keyless connection for shaft system, it not only overcomes many difficulties in new shipbuilding production of shipyard, but also renews the train of thought for new process and method developed in new shipbuilding practice.This paper introduces main operation diagram, design calculation and installation processes of hydraulic keyless connection between ship stern shaft and propeller, hydraulic tight fitting of shaft connection in shaft system and removable hydraulic shaft-end connection for stern shaft. With the application of the hydraulic keyless connection, it makes more easy and convenience both for new shipbuilding and ship repairing productions, especially for the ships with limited engine room space.The products concerned in the hydraulic keyless connection are approved by the classifications and are already applied in new shipbuilding practice in contracted vessels in many shipyards, including Shanghai Shipyard.
