This study puts forward a auto-detecting method of detecting the precision of dial gauge, this method depend on digital image-processing technique, high precision grating technique and step-electromotor technique. This method detects the dial gauge precision by applying digital image-processing as the digital image-processing has advantages of high precision, high efficiency and auto-detecting. In this system, the computer controls step-electromotor movement, and the step-electromotor drives the dial gauge pointer turning. The computer acquires the image of dial gauge by high precision CCD video, after that the computer will process the dial gauge image by some image-processing algorithms such as image segmentations, edge searching, area segmentations and locating the pointer by the "circle". At last the computer will recognise the dial pointer position and work out the precision of dial gauge in accordance with nation criterion of dial gauge. This study presents several optimum algorithms to realize quick recognition of the pointer and calibration lines of detected dial and improve the accuracy and real time quality of detecting.The micro displacement servo system includes step-electromotor, step-electromotor driver, grating displacement sensor and gearing etc. The closed loop position servo system eliminates machining error, fitting error and backhaul error etc. The control will completely run in the platform of WINDOWS. The person-computer alternation interface is amity, and the operation is simpleness.This system automatic detects the precision of dial gauge by using image-processing technique and the method can advantage work efficiency, eliminates the artificial interfere factor. This method can make detecting process more objectivity and make detecting result more reliability. So it has broad market value.
