With the worldwide low-voltage power networks , power line data communication has a extensive practicability. Therefore it is a worldwide important lesson to realize high-quality data transmission thought its wide networks.In this paper based on the test and simulation of different power networks, the reliability and practicability of carrier communications are discussed and the impedance characteristic , transmission characteristic , the effect of noise on the low-voltage are also analyzed . It point out the resolving methods of the high frequency communication characteristic and its attenuation of the distribution network are the new research field . According to the principle of spread spectrum communication , the anti-interference performance of the technology is discussed and the composition of power line spread spectrum communication is described .Based on the spread spectrum technique ,a method which is low cost , high communications quality and low bit error for power line carrier communication using single-chip software programming is proposed.In this paper the characteristic of the carrier channels are discussed and that the primary measure of improving reliability of power line communication is to establishing a real time adaptive system, include the adaptive channel-balance and auto-repeat the proposed . The former realizes steady transmission of signal by testing and analysing the carrier channel's frequency characteristic . The latter primarily improves the transmission distance and reliability by selecting the repeater automatically .The frequency domain auto-adaptatation filter algorithm is deduced and reliabity by selecting the repeater automatically .The frequency domain auto-adaptaion filter algorithm is deduced and a method of frequency domain algorithm to restrain the marrow band interference is given on the foundation of the time domain minimum mean square error auto-adaptation filter .Then the meter reading system to can learn the power network structure and automatically create linked path by using neural networks auto-study ability and analyzing the reading data. Base on the chip-ESSC16 the hardware and software design of a low-cost,-cost ,high-reliability power line carrier communication system are realized in the paper.The system has already applied in Liaoning ,Hebei and Shandong etc.,the users are satisfactory with its communication reliability and transmission capability.
