Along with the development of railway transportation, the pure air brake is gradually developed into electrically controlled pneumatic brake. At the same time, various electro-pneumatic braking systems has come up along with the development of high-speed railway transportation.The paper herewith analyzes characteristics of electro-pneumatic brake system both at home and abroad. Then automatic air electro-pneumatic brake that is widely used across the country is introduced in detail. The advantage and disadvantage are analyzed. It is proposed that the existing automatic air electro-pneumatic brake cannot meet the requirement in terms of impulsion limit. Comparing analysis is made to the go-through electro-pneumatic brake both at home and abroad. The function and requirement necessary to the new-type electro-pneumatic brake is brought forward to the mostly passenger cars and EMU with speeding at 160km/h.Secondly, the text analyzes situation and characteristics of our domestic track conditions. A new type of direct in electro-pneumatics system is brought forward to suit to our track conditions and running conditions.Based on the model of go-through electro-pneumatic brake, a new type of EMU control model is established, along with electric diagram. The function, structure and characteristic are analyzed and discussed. Also, the system is compared with the existing EMU brake control system. The key part of this system, the electro-pneumatics change over valve, had been analyzed and discussed.Thirdly, the proportional electromagnetism of the change over valve is introduced in terms of principle, type of action and characteristics. The electromagnetism of certain force had been calculated. The connections and characteristics of electric current, force and displacement of the proportion electromagnetism had been studied and tested. In the meantime, the proportion controller of the electromagnetism had been improved.Finally, the proportional electro-pneumatic changeover valve is designed, keeping in view the domestic technology and production capability.
