The Renovation Of City Waterfront

After the renovation of cities industry, many areas in cities need to be reconstructed and renovated. This study focuses on the regeneration of city waterfront and renovation of waterside old buildings under the current of large scales rebuilding trend of old areas. The aim of the study is to give rebirth to such old areas and form a new style of city waterfront. First, the article gives a boundary to the object of this study. The research mainly pays attention to the city waterfronts, which had been thriven but now have been abandoned and ruined. Then, the article introduces the background of this study, from the factors that influence the transforming of waterfront to the inducements of the regeneration of city waterfront, from the challenges of the regeneration to the process of the regeneration. In the third chapter of this article, it summarizes some special points and characters for the renovation of waterside outer space and reuse of old buildings in this areas, which are different from other kinds of renovation inside a city. Last, according to the current development in this field of China, the article introduces challenges and strategies as well as prevailing trends of such practices.
