In this paper, a 3-D finite element model of radial tire (185/60R14 82H WINGRO) is created by using solid element and general contact element. Nonlinear analysis of ANSYS program is performed to simulate tire's side-drifting in static condition. The main contents and conclusion as follow:1.In chapter 2,the paper studies the tire's mechanics capability. Side-drifting characteristic is analyzed, and the model of side-drifting angle-displacement is got.2.The geometry model of tire is got in UG. A finite element model of radial tire is created in ANSYS.Define material characteristics and element types. The contact problem is considered. We got a proper finite element model for studying tire's side-drifting characteristic.3. In chapter 5,the paper analyzes the analysis result in all kinds of conditions and do dual exploit. The relation between tire's side-drifting characteristic and tire displacement is got; the paper analyzes and compares the result of experimental test and finite element caculation. The two results are identical under the permission range of engineering error. For one hand the conclusion validates the result of finite element caculation,on the other hand it ensures the security of the calculation for application into production.The paper's main innovation is applying the finite element analysis into studying tire's side-drifting characteristic. The dual exploit of finite element calculation has three effects. The first is to provide theory gist for tire's engineering, the second is to make the base of studying tire's dynamic contact problem, and the third is to provide reference to automobile producer for analyzing the characteristic of whole automobile. For all, the paper's studying is a very important development of tire engineering. So it has an important theory significance and practical value!...
