On Outdoor Intercourse Place Design Of Campus

With the continuous increasing of economy and steady development of society, requests for high quality intellectuals and experts are on the rising. To meet the demand, the Chinese government and the authority of universities put more strength on the construction of colleges and universities. As the result, numbers of campuses are in the process of renovation, expansion, relocation and construction. Therefore, campus design becomes more demanding in modern times. The outdoor intercourse places, as an inevitable part and one of keystones in campus, arouse great attention among campus designers. The theories and practice both at home and in abroad shows that the creation of intercourse places needs and worths elaborative efforts. The quality of the design relies on the consideration and close research on the needs of communication and interconnection for college students and teachers and their intercourse behavior. Besides, the creation of the sense of space is also very crucial. Although the importance of outdoor intercourse place design has been stressed again and again among designers, various means being tried in practice, there is still a lack of theoretical support. The design of outdoor intercourse is more complicated than just laying up more benches or planting lawns, so that a systematic theory applied for the condition of our country is needed.The thesis attemps to foreshadow a systematic and academic study of outdoor intercourse place design of campus in China. The thesis consists of six chapters. The first four chapters focus on the relationship between the development of institutions of higher education and outdoor intercourse places both in China and the west, the characteristics and deficiencies of outdoor intercourse place in Chinese modern universities and colleges, the functions of outdoor intercourse places in campus, the characters of intercourse behavior of university students, and analysis of intercourse spaces. The authorintends to conduct a tentative research concerning the subject of college outdoor communication place design, and an elementary summary of its rules and features has been concluded.
