With the development of power networks, the network structure is becoming more stable, but complex as well. Because faults are inevitable in power systems and will lead to blackout, so power restoration is very important. An efficient restoration approach by Petri Net algorithm is implemented in this thesis. This approach is performed by releasing some loads required to maintain the rest system in safe operation in overload cases and opening all of the switches in the blackout areas in case of fault, and then closing proper switches to restore the unfaulted-blackout areas. Petri Net switching models and algorithm process are explained in details. System limitations and specific evaluation functions are presented for searching the best solution during the dynamic Petri Net nodes' transition. Two practical examples are used for simulation to check the effectiveness of the proposed method.
