With the development of reconstruction project for distribution networks, the higher requirement of distribution system automation technique is put forward in the distribution management system. Fault restoration in distribution network is one of the main function of distribution automation, which require the fault restoration in distribution network with better generality , economical factors and optimum. That is the important work this paper will do.Fault restoration in distribution network Operation System for Substations (FRSS) plays an important role on improving the distribution network's ability of fastness .After analyzing materials and previous work , some disadvantages such as universality and veracity are found .In this paper, an approach of fast fault restoration in the distribution network is proposed with the combination of Genetic algorithm (GA) and Petri net (PN) model. It is applied to the fault restoration in distribution network which combined the PN model and the GA. The PN model according to the connection of the fault area and normal area and the security of system mainly to decide the restoration ways .We must turn to the GA to find the optimum cutting load plan when some load in the fault area must be abandon. We can know that it can increase the speed of the fault restoration and also can gain the optimized restoration scheme which the common advantage of PN and GA is selected. Based on the combination of PN model and GA, it can realize fast and optimum fault restoration without increase the complex of PN model. According to the result of the simulation, the feasibility of the method is prove and at it is of practical value.Finally, this paper give some useful experience and algorithm scheme got from the course of programming. At the same time, the procedure is given to prove that the example is right.
