Under the sharp shacks of globalization economy and culture, the diversification of human society has been strangled, the regional culture characteristics have been declining and disappearing gradually, and the standardization and commercialization of cities and buildings have been making the architectural characteristics diminishing. The culture of architecture and city tend to similar phenomenon and crisis of distinguishing features. This similar tendency of architecture style not only damages the peculiarities of regional culture, but deviates from the creating ways based on humanism by dealing with different environmental conditions unitarily by modern technological methods. Negative effects followed these react to the development of environment and economy continually, which would make the principles of architecture separated from the natural laws on even opposed to it.The natural conditions have great restrictions and influence on the formation of traditional architectural form, among which the climatic factors should not be neglected. In Northwest China, Gansu, Xinjiang and Ningxia belong to the xerothermic climate region. Their traditional architecture forms are compatible with the climatic condition and have the generality transcended the geographical position. In addition, the nature geographical condition of this area is very complex with a weak ecological environment, diversified nationalities as well as under-developed economy.Based on the previous background and situation, this dissertation tries to analyze the traditional village in the xerothermic area of Northwest China from the influences of ecological environment (especially regional climate) on architectural form; re-realize the value of traditional village's adapting to the natural environment (especially climate), and re-recognize the value of traditional village in "survival gene" and seek a feasible pattern for the sustained development of this region's living environment.
