During recent years, lightweight frame with special-shaped columns is widelyused in dwelling buildings due to its superiorities. In this paper, the six full-scale interior beam-column joints at the top story ofreinforced concrete frame with special-shaped columns under low cyclic reversalswere analyzed by nonlinear finite element analytical method. The theory of plasticityin reinforced concrete was employed in compiling a nonlinear analytical program.The separate type model was used in this program, and the program is used to analyzeinterior beam-column joints at the top story of reinforced concrete frame withspecial-shaped columns. On the basis of the experiment, a nonlinear finite elementanalysis of the top story interior joints in reinforced concrete frame with "+" shapedcolumns under monotonic loading is discussed. The calculate result of the programwas gotten through using a special way to the binders and concrete in flange of thespecimens. Contrast to the experimental data, the outcome of the program of thispaper was verified to be valid. The joints core shear on each key phrase wascalculated through it. On the basis of the experiment data, the following problemshave been analyzed: failure mechanism of the joints, expanding procedure of crack,yielding phrase, the character of the joints failure and the work on the joints carryingcapacity by the breadth of the flange. In reinforced concrete frame with special shapedcolumns, the exist of the flange is useful to improving the anti-seismic performance ofthe top story interior joints. Through analysis and finite element calculate, twoformulas about the binders and concrete in flange of the specimens was gotten finallyin this paper, and it is useful to analyze the anti-seismic performance of the specimenswith different breadth flange in future. It has some reference value in the process ofthe interior beam-column joints design in the reinforced concrete frame structure withspecial-shaped columns in practice.
