Theoretical And Applied Research On Transportation Development Strategy In Metropolitan Coordinating Region: A Case Study Of Nanjing Metropolitan Coordinating Region

Metropolitan coordinating region (MCR) is an important form of regional spatial structure, where intensive relation between core city and other cities inside shape a circle-like structure. The closely contact between core and other inner cities depends on a strong traffic network as support. The forming and developing of MCR rely on the guiding function of transports. The planning of the transports development strategy in MCR, contribute to grasping the develop trends and building transport facility in advance moderately, prepares for society and economic developing.This thesis can be divided into two parts: theoretical research and applied research. In the first part, consult the course and experience of transportation strategic planning in foreign MCR, establish the basic program of making a transportation development strategy plan in MCR. After the close analysis of influence between traffic and economy, additionally traffic and space, find the relationship of transport developments with MCR growth. This paper compares the transportation structure of the metropolis such as New York, Tokyo, London and Paris, analyzes developing trends of the MCR form, studies the character of traffic in modern metropolis. The paper analyzes the role of mass transit and freeway in integrated transportation.Apply above-mentioned theory and methods to make the transportation development strategy plan in Nanjing MCR. First of all, investigates various traffic flows between core city and other cities inside the region, such as public transport service level and the characteristic of resident coming Nanjing, and classifies the region into several circles with Nanjing as the center. Analyzing the opportunity and the challenge to development of Nanjing MCR transportation, confirm the location of the region transportation development. Consider the transports development total guidelines and strategic objective in the Nanjing MCR, classifies the circles in the future, and then plan for each circles. Finally, synchronizing with the sequence of region economy and social development in Nanjing MCR, plan the construction of transportation facilities as a suggestion.
