| Since the reform and open policy, big urban and super big urban had considerable development, the urban economy strength and the radiant influence have enhanced greatly. Urban region expands day by day, followed by more compact relation with surrounding area, new urban space style appeared, which is similar to metropolitan area in western nation. The transportation relation between Periphery region and central region has become more and more frequent, how to set public transportation hub is important for healthy urban development.First, this paper has analyzed the characteristic of urban space evolvement, on the basis of this ,the relationship between urban space shape evolution and urban transportation system has been released from two point, which are urban area expanding influence on urban transportation demand and urban transportation system reformation promote urban expanding. on the basis of this, how the urban space shape evolution influence residents trips. urban transportation system play an important part in urban Passenger transportation .rural-urban fringe is the bridge and tache for Periphery region and central region, transportation transfer hub is very important for public transportation system, which is also important for transit-oriented development. Through the analyses of condition and advantages with TOD, it suggested that the practice in different planning lays with TOD. Because of far distance trips between Periphery region and central region, appropriate public transportation transfer hub is necessary. some usual hub position selection methods advantages and disadvantages were analyzed , after that ,the rural-urban fringe hub position selection method and principle were proposed as well as hub scale calculation. Finally, take the Xi'an metropolitan area as an example, this paper presented an example analysis to the layout of public transportation transfer hub between Periphery region and central region.
