In black-start process, energization of no-load (or light load) transmission lines has to be involved to connect the black-start power source to a thermal power plant. In this thesis, the over-voltage problem during black-start of power systems is investigated. The mathematic models for analysis and calculation of the operating over-voltage and power frequency over-voltage are built and a computer program is developed using VC++. The Over-voltages in energization of transmission lines are calculated and analyzed, and the results are compared to that of EMTP. The simulation results show that the program is correct and effective for black-start studies.
