As the development of the belt conveyor trend to the long distance, high speed and big bulk volume, it has a higher requirement about understanding the dynamic characteristic of the belt conveyor. Because the current research on the dynamic characteristic of the belt conveyor mainly focuses on some separated problems about the unstable status, longitudinal vibration and transverse vibration and etc., it is a lack on whole analyses and research of the dynamic characteristic of the belt conveyor. For solving the problem, the research of the dynamic characteristic of the belt conveyor based on the virtual prototyping is advanced in this thesis, which is expect to provide a new method about whole analyses and research of the dynamic characteristic of the belt conveyor. The flexible body concept is introduced to constitute the virtual prototyping continuum model of the longitudinal vibration and the transverse vibration of the belt conveyor in the thesis, and the two virtual prototyping models are analyzed in an emulation mode. The result indicates that it is not excellent beyond the current research method except obtaining the more dynamic parameters, although the virtual prototyping continuum model of the longitudinal vibration and the transverse vibration of the belt conveyor is analyzed in an emulation mode. Therefore, for whole understanding the dynamic characteristic of the belt conveyor, the using of the virtual prototyping continuum body model is advanced in the thesis. Based on the method, the method of the creating geometry model of the virtual prototyping of the belt conveyor is researched, which the method of the creating geometry model of the virtual prototyping of the belt conveyor by mean of the CAD software is specially researched in detail, and the simplify method of the model of the belt conveyor and the belt is researched, and a new similitude approach is advanced to reduce computing and analyzing cost in the simulation mode. A simple and expandable belt conveyor virtual prototyping model was constituted by the contact force mode, and the reasonable and the feasible of this method are proven by the simulating results, and the following research direction is also discussed in the thesis. Analyzed results indicate that the continuum model of the belt conveyor based on virtual prototyping technology is not excellent beyond the current method, and the virtual prototyping continuum body model of the belt conveyor should be constituted. Through analyzing a simple belt conveyor virtual prototyping model, it is proven that the belt conveyor virtual prototyping model based on the contact force mode is the reasonable and the feasible and the more dynamic parameter could be obtained than the current method.
