Since the global energy crisis of the 70's of last century broke out, the air-conditioning system, one of the biggest energy-consumers, is designed to reduce energy-consumption. Thus buildings become more and more airtight, to bring on the large decrease of air exchange amount. With the modernization of habitation and work environment of people, the variety and amount of indoor pollution sources are much more than before. At the same time people spend more and more time indoors. Now the number of people living and working in modern buildings in a long run has been increasing and most of them maybe bear from bad to worse diseased symptoms. Comprehensive research results indicate that it results from poor indoor air quality (IAQ).Now the living level of Chinese residents has increased and the habitation environment of them has also been improved largely with the each passing day. The number of Chinese residents possessing IAQ knowledge is still ascending. In order to know whether their habitation environments are good or poor, they may invite the special environment-protection department to measure concentration levels of indoor pollutants. But this kind of field tests only provides residents with static results of indoor pollutants in the certain time of day and the judgement whether indoor pollutants concentrations accord with national indoor environment standards. What's more, not every Chinese family can afford the charge for the tests. So above causes motivate me to develop a convenient, easily- popularized, fast, low-cost "Housing Indoor Air Quality Diagnosis System".The diagnosis system is based on various models and evaluation means that have been proved true through theories, experiments or practices to integrate into a new multi-level compositive model and to build up the diagnosis core. The compositive model includes Hayes IAQ model, indoor radon model, ventilation model, street canyon model, IAQ grade assessment mean, individual exposure model and subjective feeling multi-level fuzz compositive evaluation mean. This paper detailedly introduces each model and mean respectively, as well as the hiberarchy relationship among them.A set of questionnaires about residents' habitation environment are designed, aiming to make the diagnosis system get much important information about house dimension, ambient environment, decorative materials, residents' indoor activities andso on. The simple information is converted indirectly and well and truly into required input parameters for the compositive model. Under the major development environment of C++Builder, the input interface of residents' habitation environment questionnaires and the output interface of diagnosis results are designed and the analysis arithmetic programs are compiled. At the same time some data files are set up to save characteristic values of necessary input parameters. This diagnosis system ultimately have been developed into the "Housing Indoor Air Quality Diagnosis System" soft, which is able to offer residents friendly-surface questionnaires and makes them take some subjective and objective assessments and health evaluation on their own. Finally, this paper introduces the function and use-explanation of this soft. The paper makes a summary of "Housing Indoor Air Quality Diagnosis System", discusses its validity and expansibility, and puts forward with some suggestions of improving the diagnosis system further.
