The existing factory buildings of steel structure in our country were mostly built in 1960s. For various reasons, most of the standing factory buildings have been damaged in some extent and there exist many hidden quality dangers. These damages and hidden quality dangers may cause serious destruction even collapses to the engineering structure. In recent years, some serious casualties and property losses for the structure destruction appear repeatedly. Therefore, it is very essential to strengthen the research of the damage detection and quality evaluation of the structure. In this article the following work to this question have been done:1. The various theories and methods of detection and quality evaluation to steel construction synthetically have been compared.2. The inspect and observe method and ultrasound method has been utilized to guide the quality evaluations of factory buildings of steel made.3. The experimental and emulational result of a portal frame has been used to verify the feasibility of dynamic detection and evaluation methods.
