Revived Buildings That Evoke Memory Of City

Building renewal which regarded as reusing historic buildings is one of the parts of human's building activities; also it is a basic unit of city development. However, when entering 21st century, building renewal of our country is encountering predicament in the extensive urbanization tide. It becomes the excuse to changing buildings' facade, even the cover of the pure commercial development. As its consequence, it is the missing of cities' memory and the wasting of a large number of materials, energy.Under such condition, this article proposes a way to understand and grasp the building renewal design. The goal of which is to seek deeply into the characteristic of building renewal through evoking of cities' memory and revoking the old buildings without the disturbance of commercial and philistinism trend in building design.In the explanation about social values of the historic buildings, this article recommend three levels of the cities' memory which include City image, Genius-loci, Connotation of living environment referred to the cities research achievement under the guidance by "harmonious but different" culture of region advocated in " Beijing charter". And in the explanation about material value of the historic buildings, this article probed into the necessity and the possibility of historic buildings' material reusing referred to the achievement of the buildings' function research, technique-hierarch and concept of tectonic from the angle of function, technology and materials under guidance of sustainable development.And then, in point of the crisis encountered in building renewal of china, this article presents principle of reality and lasting-period from angle of culture, and principle of economized, ecologies and integrity from angle of resource and environment unite. Then under such 5 points, it put forward the tactics of building renewal which including spatial relationship and appearance of the new and old buildings, and environment of outer space. Synthesize the analysis of above-mentioned tactics at last, draw the way to realize building renewal, just as with the foundation of clear understanding the way to solve relationship of history, reality and future, combining with function renewal and technological condition, the synthesis carried on from three respects of environment of space, appearance form and outside environment.
