The control of progress is the foundation and the key factor that a project succeeds in implementing. Because of the particularity of the tunnel project in Chengdu red star road, the control of progress ought to be the most crucial in the whole course of the construction. At first, this paper introduced the overview of the project, and then analyzed its characteristics, importance and difference, and pointed out it' s the most crucial part to control the progress. Subsequently the paper analyzed the operation of the project; worked out the structure chart, time limit for the project, the plan of the construction schedule and its resource distribution including the workforce, equipment, fund and material. Otherwise, this paper discussed the organization' s setting up to implement the plan of schedule, the measure for quality management and the assurance of technology, fund and logistics, and worked out the duty linearity chart, and pointed out and analyzed the measure to control the schedule of the project, and completely analyzed its potential problems and errors, and subsequently gave the corresponding corrections. The above-mentioned plan, method and measure for the control of progress will assure the operation of the plan for the project' s schedule and the achievement of the project' s period goal.On working out and inspecting the plan for the project' s schedule and the technology and methods to control the progress, I adopted network planning technology (mainly CPM), Gantt, WBS, LRC, vanguard linearity for practical rate of progress, analyzing method by cause and effect, etc. In addition, the paper also analyzed the principle of these technologies and methods and the complete applying.
