The Research Of College Dormitory In POE Mothed

The dormitory, as the habitation for students when they living in the college, must satisfy the needs of students' daily life, such as sleep, study, social communication, recreation and so on. With the background of innovation of logistics management in the college, and the increasing of living standards, the physical setting of dormitory is expected to be improved, so that it can meet the occupants' requirements.The POE method is used in this thesis. According to this method, the research focuses on the needs and satisfaction of students who are using the building. Based on the occupants' needs and satisfaction, the utilization of dormitory and its building performances are evaluated in a systematic manner.The investigations provide the information about the occupancy of the buildings, the needs and wants of the occupants, and also their assessments. By means of evaluating the advantage and disadvantage of building performances in three aspects, including the technical, the functional and the behavioral performances, the thesis seeking the reasons which cause the problem, and offers the recommendations concerning the space forms of building, designs of the public space, designs of the rooms, as well as the management of the dormitory. Finally, by comparing the costs and profits of investment of college dormitory, this paper verifies the feasibility of the recommendations which can improve the quality of residential environment of the dormitory, without raising the current rent level.
