The Use Of "Nine-grid Pattern" In Landscape Design

Modern landscape design has various methods. With the internationalization trend of the landscape design market, a landscape designer must study his own country's culture intensively.However, it is impossible for one to study traditional culture across-the-board. Landscpe design is a profession job, so, the answer to this problem is to find appropriate research field. The research angle of this thesis is about the inspiration that traditional culture pattern has given to modern landscape design.Nine-grid pattern is a kind of very classic symbol in Chinese traditional culture and is implicated widely in landscape design fields. This thesis begins with the nine-grid pattern's origin, cultural background and meanings, discuss the relationship between Confucianism and Tao, analyses why this pattern can survive until today, sum up how nine-grid pattern influences city's space pattern. At the end of this thesis, with the landscape design practical examples, the author emphasizes his own experience about nine-grid pattern applications in landscape design.
