Coal is mainly sources in the form of energy in our country, and is widely used in thermal power plant. To improve the efficiency of thermal power plant not only can reduce the coal consume, but also is demanding of protecting environment. The boiler's lower efficiency of our country is one of the main reason of high coal consume of generating electricity, and it is also concerned by numerous worker and technician. At present, it is not solved perfectly. For the DG670/140-8 boiler, it is important to for engineering though thoroughly researching and analysising the reason of boiler's lower efficiency, bringing forward improving on scheme and carrying into execution.The problems of 7# and 8# boiler in Qingzhen Power Plant since they were put into production was analyzed in this paper, the reason of these problems was thoroughly analyzed, and modification scheme to adopt in the past were studied. It was concluded that the scheme was necessary and feasible, and the optimal modification scheme was gained by the way of theoretic analysis and experiment. And the modification scheme was put in practice on the boilers. After carrying into execution, the boiler efficiency was increased from 89% to 90.27%, 5600 tons standard coal consume will be reduced, 12000 thousands RMB will be saved, great economy benefit will be brought according to 7000 hours annually. The conclusion and the method of theory analysis and enperiment have an important application value for modification of the other boiler.
