Study On Remote Reading And Monitoring System For KWH Meters Based On Wireless Network

With more and more theft events of electric power appeared in the past years, high expectation has been placed by the electric power administration on the development of the KWH meters readable both in regular time and at random. What is more, on-site evidence of electric power theft is also needed. So it is of great significance to investigate the GPRS based wireless remote reading and monitoring unit for KWH meters.This thesis is engaged in the research of technology and methodology of GPRS based meter reading and monitoring and in the thorough investigation of this technology both at home and abroad.1. The author proposed and designed the general scheme and architecture of the GPRS based wirelesss remote reading and monitoring unit.2. Thorough study has been made into the JPEG image fomat in order to realize the image acquisition and transmission using microcontrollers.3. Exploration has been made to realize the electronic mail transmission on wireless Internet via microcontrollers.4. Programmable Counter Array is empowered to realize the serial transimission through software program, ie. software UART.At last, counter electromagnetic interference measures have been taken both in hardware and in software to assure the reliable operation.As a result, this unit can be used not only in the electric power supply occasions, but also for other remote monitoring purposes. It will be proved to have wide applications and better social economic benefits.
