With the rapid development of science and technology, traditional launch technologies are hardly meet people's special demands of launching apparatus in the aspect of velocity and safety, because they have some defects such as low emission velocity, poor safety and unmanageable performance. The electromagnetic launch (EML) technology, which rose in recent years, is a leap of the launch theory and launch technology, and it gives a new approach to solve above-mentioned problems. Moreover, the propulsion technology of coilgun is the most complex kind of EML on this realm, and it is the most potential and meritable technology. Therefore, the EML technology finds its broad prospect application and widespread application foregrounds in some realm such as national defence, scientific studies and aviation & spaceflight.First, the basic principle of coilgun propulsion technology is introduced in this paper. Then based on biot-savart rule and finite element method (FEM), the magnetic field of multilayer solenoid is analyzed, and it gives the full magnetic field distribution of current-carrying solenoid. This method avoids the limitation that only the axial magnetic field distribution of multilayer solenoid is analyzed. In addition, on this basis, the ends of symmetrical placed finitive long solenoids originate nonlinear magnetic field. This field exerts magnetic force on current-carrying circle is discussed in this paper. And the optimized initialization location is ascertained by programming. According to former conclusion, the single launching model is optimized by analyses, and optimal parameter of this model is ascertained. In the end, the electromagnetic launching model of multistage, which is controlled by MCU, is designed. And based on experiment, the other parameters of this model are ascertained. Therefore, the preliminary model of EML is designed completely. The results indicate that the model's performance is perfect, and the model gives some foundation to continue study on this realm in the future.
