Tire industry is growing fast along with ambient automobile industry'sdevelopment. Tire tube is an important component of tire. Based on national practicalsituation in the paper tire tube process's main problem such as scorch life and butt joint,which affect severely tire tube's quality was mainly studied. Compounds was first investigated. It inferred that compound had bigger effectson scorch life and butt joint. NR/SBR ratios ,the structure and level of CarbonBlack ,different curing systems and softening agent had influence on scorch life .Scorchlife would decrease when more NR was added; while Carbon Black particle was smaller,scorch life was shorter; different curing systems had clear difference on scorch life; ButNR/SBR ratio and softening agent had more effect on butt joint. Except formulation, temperature, screw speed and compound quality also affectscorch life. The influence of the time for filler added to rubber on compound quality wasspecially studied. It was found that the scorch safety of NR/SBR compound during the tubeprocessing could not be well reflected by Mooney scorch safety. In addition, butt jointing time, pressure, ambient temperature, ambient cleaningand equipment were investigated .At the same time correct processing conditions wereselected. Based on studying of scorch life and butt joint strength, processing technologyand equipment were improved. It was found that quality problems for the tube compoundscorching and butt jointing of the tube splitting open greatly decreased.
