Medium-length blasting is widely applied to the basis construction, such as the cutting excavation of the highway and the land leveling of the construction of airport. With the widely application of the technology of the medium-length blasting, the fast development has been received. By contrast, the research on the safety problem of medium-length blasting is still at relatively backward stage. Some relevant problems about safety assessment of medium-length blasting are discussed in the article.In this paper, based on fuzzy mathematics theory, applying the method of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation into the safety assessment of the medium-length blasting, combining the concrete characters of the safe system of medium-length blasting, the general level of medium-length blasting by fuzzy comprehensive evaluation, getting safety grade. According to general viewpoint of accident theory, considering the blasting environment, safety administration, the technology and the construction, etc, medium-length blasting safety assessment factors system is established. Individual safety assessment factors are analyzed. According to the principle of defining theweight of factors of safety assessment factors, a qualitative and quantitative way-Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP) is used to define the relative weights of safety assessment factors of medium-length blasting, which reflect the important extent factors to medium-length blasting current situation scientifically and reasonably. Through comparing and analyzing, on the basis of the multistage fuzzy mathematics theory, the more excellent fuzzy comprehensive operator is selected and the advantages and faults of the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation are analyzed. Putting the above method into the cutting excavation of the highway medium-length blasting considering the blasting environments, the designing and construction of the current situation, by the method of giving marks, combining the relative weights of safety assessment gained, through fuzzy comprehensive evaluation, the real safety grade of this project is drawn. By analyzing the result of the application of the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation to actual project the conclusion is drawn.The assessment method of medium-length blasting studied in the paper not only play the function of casting a brick to attract jade, but also can be applied intothe concrete medium-length blasting project, which has realistic meanings on a certain degree. In addition, it is useful for studying the safety assessment of other kinds of blasting project.
