Green design can satisfy the green consumption from consumers and is the inevitable choice to conform to the sustainable development. Besides, it's the best way to eliminate the green commence barrier. Modular design has completed the transformation from a kind of thinking to a technology and has been a widely applied design methodology. Combining green design and modular design can establish a new methodology named green modular design to satisfy a production's functional characters and environmental characters simultaneously.Firstly, green design's station and function in the modular design and its basic frame and design flow are discussed. By expatiating some key technologies' signification and function such as functional analysis, modular division, modular composition and material selection, the foundation of the system of green modular design is established. Secondly, according to the design flow, 3 main key technologies such as modular division, modular composition and modular degree/green degree evaluation and those mathematical bases, model establishing and correlative arithmetic are deep researched and validated by some cases. Furthermore, by applying some software technologies, a computer aided green modular design archetypal system named GMCADS is founded.The methodology of green modular design has been established and can be used to give designers some guidance. But, as a systemic method to apply in the design process, it need deep researched not only in its extent but also in its deepness.
