Power plant is an important part of electrical system. Simulator for power plant can be used to train operators of power plant. Operator can improve their skill through the training.In the past, reseaching and developing simulation system is always programmed by hand. For there are many differences in each power plant, it is costly and time wasting to develop simulation system for one special plant. So the advanced modeling tool is imminently needed. Apros (Advanced Process Simulation Software) made in Finland is one automatic graphics modeling system. It is a simulation software product for full-scale modeling and dynamic simulation of industrial process. The modeling efficiency and veracity can be improved by Apros. The #1 generator's electrical system and network control system of pinwei power plant are modeled by Apros. Apros is the first time used to model power plant inland. Apros is the efficient tool that the technician can dedicate to configuring loop, optimizing parameter and debugging simulation system without programming.Simulator is composed of host computer system, I/O interface system, control and operation panels of simulator, local operation station, instruction station and engine station. Boiler, steamer, control and electrical system can be simulated by simulator. Simulator is a powerful tool throughout the complete life cycle of a power plant: from pre-design to maintenance. With the development of computer techlonogy, now distributed control system and nerwork control system are commonly used by great power plants, so software is always used to simulate power plant. During the developing period with Apros, many predefined modules of electrical system and automatic control system are frequency used. Firstly, sub-models are constructed by these modules, such as breaker, fuse, measurement and so on; secondly, subsystems of ecltrical system are constructed according to their mathematic models. The main subsystems are bus systems arrangement, excitation system, synchronizing system, transformer and failure simulation.The electrical modules of Apros can be ameliorated according to the experience.
