In recent years, the building with double-skin glass curtain wall has appeared in China. This type of glass curtain wall is recommended currently by arguments such as sustainability, ecology and energy-saving. Double-skin glass curtain wall are already a common feature of architectural competition in Europe for providing greater thermal insulation both in summer and winter. However, in Hot-summer and cold-winter zone in China, the experience and knowledge about climate environment for double-skin glass curtain wall are left as vacuum. So the study on double-skin glass curtain wall and its adaptability to the climate in this area has practical significance.Based on the comparing study of the experiments on double-skin glass curtain wall in various conditions such as orientation, sun-shading, ventilation, energy-saving, surface-watering, heat-storing and circulation of airflow, the thesis concerns their effects on indoor thermal environment and energy consumption. And integrated with case analysis and technical evolution of double-skin glass curtain wall, the thesis try to offer some technical rules for double-skin glass curtain wall and its design strategy for climate adaptability. From the type, material, conformation and operate mode, this thesis analyse how to design the double-skin glass curtain wall, and make economic analysis to the double-skin glass curtain wall. Combining the relevant technical subject and the climate in the area, the author attempts to sum up exercisable strategies of design, and try to examine the feasibility of these design strategies in practice. It is the purport of this thesis that aims at the preliminary study on climate adaptability of the double-skin glass curtain wall. The study not only affords the exercisable technical sustainment for the realization of ecological building, but may also provides the most possibility for logical expression of architecture design.
