The paper researches on the developmental history and future of steel residence in China, and introduce some structural system applied in the steel residence. The economy, seismic deforming and constrcture comparison is applied among the structural systems. In theory, the author particulely compares the structure elastic rigidity, ultimate bearing capacity, ductility, energy dissipation of steel tube-confiled concrete frame and normal steel frame. on the base of researching in their result, The steel tube-confiled concrete frame has the same ultimare bearing capacity, ductility, energy dissipation as compared with the normal steel frame, In engneering, the author compare the steel cost of the steel tube-confined concrete frame and normal steel frame to a apartment building.From these comparing date some conclusion can be got: First the steel tube-confined concrete frame is the same bearing capacity as normal steel frame. Second, the steel tube-confiled concrete frame is more economic than the normal steel frame. so the steel tube confiled concrete frame should be appllied in the steel residence .
