That Urbanization lags heavily behind the industrialization is a common phenomenon in China. Since 1990s, the pace of Shanghai's urbanization has accelerated dramatically, but it still lags heavily behind the industrialization at present. Of all the factors affecting the urbanization, abolishing the systems which block the process of urbanization is one of the most important steps. This thesis is aimed to establish the mechanism of the replacement of the rural residential land to quicken the process of Shanghai's urbanization on the basis of the grasp of the rural residential land replacement experiments and the analysis of its effect on Shanghai's urbanization.
