Decision-support using transportation information which means to solve the problems existing in city transportation is a quite complex research area, which integrates theories and methods of transportation information management, GIS, transportation modeling and simulation, computer-aided decision. The research is based on BTIMDSS (Beijing Transportation Information Management and Decision Support System) and gain deep insight to deal with typical problems such as vehicle location in driving. The main contributions are listed as follows:(l)Applying transportation simulation technique to realize intelligent decision-support on transportation information management.(2) Setting up multi-modal integrated transportation information model which represents data need of MIS, GIS and ITS. It greatly benefits data and system integration among various systems.(3)Using multi-dimensional linear regression model to simulate road traffic. The model data origins from historical statistic information.(4)Constructing vehicle driving simulation model by combining vehicle motion simulation in micro level and traffic statistic representation in macro level, which compromise the cost of computation and validity of model.(5)Setting up a framework on vehicle driving path selection and guidance for special service user such as emergency and police. This work both validates the method and do great favor to a typical application in transportation information management(6)Design and implementation a multi-level hybrid road network path selection algorithm, which improve traditional short-path algorithm by considering the levels of Beijing traffic to fulfill the actual requirement in acceptable computation cost. This research enriches and expands the area of information management system and decision support system. It is both theoretical and practical meaningful to traffic management research.
