The pulverized coal concentration in pneumatic pipe in firepower plant is a very important parameter ofthe boiler system. It is quite necessary to detect and measure pulverized coal concentration for the purpose ofrealizing the harmonious combustion control system of the boiler ,which could make the boiler be operatedmore economically and more safely. There are some new methods of measurement of pulverized coalconcentration. Some methods show good effect but their somehow narrow application areas limit their use.Others are on the contrary. On the basis of two-phase flow theory , a new method of measurement ofpulverized coal concentration which could be applied to the drier coal-sending style boiler was studied andrealized in this paper. This method called kinetic energy method is based on gas-solid two phase flow theoryand the pressure drop before and after the commixture of air and pulverized coal. A platform of intelligent control system of ball mill pulverizing system is realized in this paper groundedon soft sensing and multi-sensor fusion technique. The human machine interface is developed by means ofInTouch. Intelligent control method and neural network model are used considering the complexity of thepulverizing system of ball mill. The emphases of this part is to establish a database platform of intelligentsensing, control and optimization. The database includes realtime database and history database. The datacome from DCS and intelligent data collection device designed by ourselves. Also communications andopening of this system are discussed. The main computer corresponds with the data collection device viaRS-485 using the MODBUS protocol and use OPC technique to communicate with DCS.
