The electricity industry is the basic industry of the national economy, which provides the basic driving force for the industry and other sectors of the national economy. And it’s also the most important basis for the energy industry in the country’s economic development. In recent years, with the rapid develop of the power industry; the demand of coal is increasing rapidly, while the supply of coal is tight, and the price of coal continued to rise. The result is majority of the power plants have to purchase the coal that with low price while it has a high volatile matter, as much as30%. The coal that burned in the boiler can not meet the requirements, Since it is difficult to ensure the design of the combustion coal, when burning high volatile lignite, the pulverized coal inside of the pulverizing system prone to spontaneous combustion, explosions and other unsafe conditions appear. Result in equipment damage and serious threat to personal safety. On the basis of consulting lots of reference and investigation, this paper reasonably states the explosion mechanism, reason and summarizes the non-explosive technique measures of boiler ball mill pulverizing system. And proposed use intelligent predictive control to replace the traditional PID control. By controlling the mill outlet temperature, reduce and prevent the pulverized coal deposition in mill and the pipe to improve the operation of the milling system security. The paper also reviews the research works on ball mill pulverizing control system’s control requirements, control difficulty, control method, existing problems, and its characteristic modeling, etc. Finally simulation comparison of model predictive control and PID control is carried out. The simulation results have shown that the control based on model predictive control can obtain fairly good result. The paper also provides a guidance to further scientific research and application on the ball mill pulverizing control system.
